Description
Mint, family of Lamiacée is originating in Southernmost Europe. Rustic hardy perennial with crawling port and the aromatic foliage, mint saw at least three years, its season is from May to October. Many varieties, the spearmint, peppered with the purple foliage, mint pineapple with the mixed foliage, lemon-yellow mint with the citronnée odor, mint pouliot with the small sheets of ashy color. The whole sheets, often lancéolées (finished in the shape of lance) and toothed, are opposite on the stems with the strongly marked features. The flowers of color pink, lilacs or white, are gathered in inflorescences (mode of grouping) very dense often verticillate (laid out in circular group). Their characteristic odor and their fresh and refreshing taste are due to menthol (terpenic alcohol).
Use
As all the Menthe S it has aromatic properties (tonic, strengthening) and digestive properties (to fight heavinesses, the distensions, gases). But traditionally it is especially of external use from where its name of green balsam
