Water-Sharp

the Water-Sharp are a district of Geneva and old a common of the canton of the same name.

The commune of the Water-Sharp is created by a decree of the June 13rd 1798 instituting a municipal administration of the communes on the Genevese territory. At the time of the departure of the French troops, the Constitution of 1814 lets remain the mode established previously.

The beginning of the XX {{E}} century constitutes one era of prosperity with the creation of the Avenue Pictet-to-Rochemont, which generates many constructions, the transformation of the ways into streets and the construction of the new town hall as of 1907. In 1912, the municipality emits offers for repurchase of a property which will become thereafter the Parc of the Water-Sharp. This one enters in possession of the commune in 1913. It is in the Années 1920 that seat the process of fusion with the town of Geneva takes. A first Votation takes place in 1926, during which Water-Viviens pushes back this possibility. It is during one second voting, in 1930, that the law of administrative fusion, which puts an end to autonomy Water-Sharp, is adopted. The commune is integrated into the town of Geneva in 1931. For this time, the Water-Sharp have become one of the largest districts of the town of Geneva. With the Jet of water like calling card, the Water-Sharp regularly receive the visit of many tourists.
