Watchdogs

The Watchdogs (cdG) are a feminist movement French against the Sexisme whose are victims the women (and not men) in the Média S and public space in general. Their mission is to fight against the Violence sexist and against the stereotypes sexists and to promote the equality. The association chose the name of Chien born from guard for better denouncing the stigmatization of the Femme S as such; the term was chosen, by Florence Montreynaud, like translation of the English watchdog (“Watchdog”).
Their currency: To address a Insult sexist to a public woman, it is Insulte R all the women .
Another currency (presented like “their action in three words”): to decipher, denounce, resist .
Formation
Following the incidents known by various political women ( Simone Veil in 1974 at the time of the defense of the Law on IVG , Yvette Roudy in 1983 during the adoption of the first law anti-sexist , Edith Cresson at the time of her speech of nomination like Prime Minister , Nicole Notat, leading of the CFDT, insulted by militants of Working force , and Dominique Voynet, minister of environment, insulted with the Living room of agriculture), Florence Montreynaud, writer and militant of all the feminist causes, decides to constitute a network of fight against the insults sexists with other feminists. After the presidency of Florence Montreynaud, Isabelle Alonso succeeded until June 2003 to him, then Yanne, and Manual which is the current president (since April 2005). The Watchdogs started inter alia with a petition launched in favor of Dominique Voynet, petition which was transformed quickly into proclamation of the Watchdogs .
The proclamation of the Watchdogs was launched the March 8th 1999. The September 13rd 1999, it had collected 691 signatures (519 women, 164 men and 8 associations). It collected the support of the feminists who however tore around the inscription of the principle of parity in the Constitution.
We live in Démocratie. The Droit is free, but all the arguments are not legitimate. Any woman which exposes, which is affirmed, which is posted, runs the risk to be dealt with “whore”; if it succeeds, it is often suspectée “to have slept”. Any visible woman is judged on her appearance and is labelled: mother, good friend, good with to do everything, lesbian, whore, etcCa is enough!
We, Watchdogs, we show the hooks. To address an insult sexist to a public woman, it is to insult all the women. We commit ourselves expressing our support for the public women attacked as women. We affirm and the choice liberty of action of all the women. We, watchdogs, we keep an invaluable value: the dignity of the women. With good entendeurs, hello.
