This series worship, which lasted thirteen seasons, draft of a variety of subjects likely to touch the life of the teenagers. Initially conceived for an old public of approximately 14 years, a particular phenomenon occurred, the televiewers continuing to follow the emission into growing old. The contents of the emission thus adapted with the years, the adolescent public turning more worms of other series youth like Ramdam or Radio-Hell .The emission is also famous for its number impressing characters. Only five of them, in particular Michel Couillard, interpreted by Hugo Saint-Cyr military school, unknown before Watatatow , took part in the 13 seasons.
If the contents of Watatatow knew to adapt to the times and the various subjects of topicality (advent of Internet, taxage in school, etc), the emission was also scoffed for certain paradoxes: if the life of the teenagers were recreated most accurately possible, no character on the other hand smoked the cigarette.
Watatatow made it possible many actors on television to make their first weapons, in particular Serge Postigo, Veronique Bannon, Charles Lafortune, Marilyse Bourke and the Catherine-Moon Rollet.
The name of the original concept is inspired by the word " Wattetanow" who comes from a Algonquin dialect. This word means at the same time joy, happiness, astonishment; and its sonority was modernized by Jean-Pierre Morin to resound with close to the Québécois teenagers.
