Warren Elect
Warren Ellis (born in on February 16th 1968) is a scenario writer of Comic S British.
Biography
The career of Elect started in 1990 in the magazine Deadline with a history of 6 pages. Among his other work of beginner one finds a history short of Judge Dredd and a page of Doctor Who . Its first work on a continuous series is Lazarus Churchyard published in Blast! , a transitory British magazine.
In 1994, Ellis starts to work for Marvel Comics, where it taken in hand the series Hellstorm of number 12 to the 21. It also took part in the label Marvel 2099, mainly for a storyline where a Doctor Fatalis of the future seizes the power in the United States. Later he worked on Excalibur , comics whose action proceeds mainly in Great Britain. He also wrote some numbers of Thor .
Elect worked then for cd. Comics, Caliber Comics and especially for Wildstorm, then in the bosom of Image Comics, where he wrote DV8 , a mini-series derived from Gen 13 and took in hand Stormwatch . He wrote it number 37 to the 50, with the draftsman Tom Raney and connected on volume 2 of the series drawn by Oscar Jimenez, Bryan Hitch and Michael Ryan. After the end of volume 2 with number 11, Elect and Hitch launched The Authority , a team of superman born of ashes of Stormwatch.
In 1997, Ellis began its series in Creator-owned , Transmetropolitan - history of a sour journalist " gonzo " in of the futuristic United States - with the draftsman Darick Robertson under the label Helix of cd. When Helix ceased existing, the following year, Transmetropolitan was transferred in the label Vertigo and became one of the comics without superman published by cd. having the most success. The series lasted 60 episodes (more some special), stopping in 2002, once the author did not have anything any more to tell there.
1999 saw the launching of Planetary , another Wildstorm series by Ellis and John Cassaday, as well as a short participation of Elect with the series Hellblazer of DC/Vertigo. It left the series when cd. announced, following the drama of Columbine, that it would not publish " Shoot" , a history describing an similar incident, which he had already written and which was already illustrated and designed to appear.
Elect turned over to Marvel, to take share with the " Revolution" mutant titles while directing the series " Counter-X ". This line was to revitalize the series derived from X-Men: Generation X , X-Man , and X-Force , but was not a success, moving away Ellis comics from superman for some time.
In 2003 Ellis launched Global Frequency , mini-series of 12 episodes drawn per as many different artists (Jason Pearson, Roy Allan Martinez, Steve Dillon, David Lloyd, Chris Sprouse, Lee Bermejo, Gene ha,…) and published by Wildstorm. In parallel, it continued to work for various editors: Cd., Misadventure Comics, AiT/Planet Lar, Cliffhanger and Homage Comics.
2004 saw the return of Elect with the comics of superman general public. It took in hand Ultimate Fantastic Four and Iron Man , for Marvel, with which it signed a contract of exclusity for work of order. He also wrote an episode of the cartoon the League of the Dispensers of justice ( Justice League Unlimited in VO).
The titles Apparat left between the end 2004 and in 2005. Elect described these titles like the " the first four imaginary numbers of imaginary series belonging to an imaginary line of comics". The Apparat titles were published by Avatar but carried only the Apparat logo in cover. One second wave of title should be launched in 2006.
Semi-2005 it launched to Wildstorm the series Desolation Jones with the draftsman J.H. Williams III, like Jack Cross-country race at cd. Comics with Gary Erskine.
In addition to the end of a whole of three mini-series for the line Ultimate of Marvel its next project is Nextwave , with the draftsman Stuart Immonen, always at Marvel.
