Warren Christopher

Warren Minor Christopher (born the October 27th 1925 in the North Dakota) is an American diplomat which was Secretary of foreign affairs of 1993 with 1997 during the first mandate of Bill Clinton.

He studied with the the University of California of the South (USC), then studied the right to the Université Stanford.

From January 1977 at January 1981, under the democratic presidency of Jimmy Carter, he was associated Secretary of State (with the orders of the Secretaries of State Cyrus Vance and Edmund Muskie). During this period, it in particular negotiated the release of fifty-two American hostages in Iran.

In January 1981, president Jimmy Carter gave to him the Medal off Freedom , the highest civil distinction in the United States.

It became the 63e Secretary of State (Foreign Minister of the United States), of January 1993 at January 1997, in the administration of the democratic president Bill Clinton.

At the time of the presidential election of 2000, it was sent in Florida and charged with supervising voices for the democratic camp and the candidate Al Gore recount it.

Warren Christopher was married with feue Marie Wyllis. He is the father of four children: Lynn, Scott, Thomas, and Kristen.

He wrote three works:

  • American Hostages in Iran (1986);

  • In the Stream off History: Shaping Foreign Policy for has New Era (1998);
  • Chances off has Lifetime (2001).
