Warp end-with Agenais is a common French, located in the department of Lot-et-Garonne and the area Aquitaine.

The Blason of Warp end is of azure to the three shells lines at a peak, overcome with Dextre of two keys passed in Sautoir and with Senestre of a Château of three turns, the gold whole.

Geography

Located on a rocky outcrop (the term Celte PEN means peak of Montagne), the country house dominates the valley of the Lot of 120 m, with its foot, Port-of-Warp end with the Confluent of the Batch and the Boudouyssou and the Tancanne opposite Saint-Sylvestre-on-Batch.

History

Penn" is a word Celte which means peak or spur, which leaves think that the plate was occupied by the Gaulois. Moreover, many excavations carried out in the village and in the neighborhoods put at the day the vestiges of a Roman occupation.

Richard Lion-hearted makes strengthen the Château Warp end, which will become thus a powerful place of war, the " key of the duchy of Guyenne " according to certain texts of the the Middle Ages.

The South of France experiences at the beginning of the 13th century a strong development of the religious movement Cathare. The opposition of the Catholique S involves the very whole area in a religious war at the end which Catholicism will leave victorious and the Cathares, completely destroyed, will fall into the oubliettes from the History. During the Albigensian war, the Count de Toulouse had entrusted to Hugue d' Alfaro the heavy task to push back the Croisés out of the fortified town of Warp end. But, at the beginning of August 1212, after fifty days of seat, Penne capitulated.

The shortly after the Albigensian war, Penne knew a strong repopulation. Its importance then enabled him to claim the establishment of a municipal administration and a charter of the habits. It seems that the latter was established initially as of 1243 before being altered and packed in 1270. At the end of the War One hundred Year old, the king Charles VIII granted to the inhabitants the renewal of their charter disappeared in the Incendie which had devastated the city in 1373.

In 1154, the accession with the throne of Henri Plantagenet, second husband of Aliénor of Aquitaine, made pass all the province under English domination. During all the One hundred Year old war, Penne will be sometimes French, sometimes English. In 1373, the English set fire to the city before giving up it with Duguesclin which had besieged it for three months.

Set up in place Protesting E in the middle of the 16th century, Penne was the theater of confrontations between Catholiques and Protestants. Bloodiest in 1562 took place. After 99 days of seat, the chief of the catholic army seized the place occupied by the Protestants. The defenders were cut the throat of and thrown in the wells of the castle.

It is with 16th and 17th century that the Peste prevails in the area of Warp end. In 1653, in order to obtain enraillement epidemic, the inhabitants of Warp end committed themselves to rebuild the church of Notre-Dame de Peyragude and going there in procession the August 15th of each year.

Penne, the Révolution allows an economic and social evolution all the favor of the people and middle-class. At the dawn of the 19th century, the commune of Warp end counts approximately 4.000 hearts…
