Warp end-with Agenais is a common French, located in the department of Lot-et-Garonne and the area Aquitaine.

Geography

Located on a rocky outcrop (the term Celte PEN means peak of Montagne), the country house dominates the valley of the Lot of 120 m, with its foot, Port-of-Warp end with the Confluent of the Batch and the Boudouyssou and the Tancanne opposite Saint-Sylvestre-on-Batch.

History

Penn" is a word Celte which means peak or spur, which leaves think that the plate was occupied by the Gaulois. Moreover, many excavations carried out in the village and in the neighborhoods put at the day the vestiges of a Roman occupation.

During all the One hundred Year old war, Penne will be sometimes French, sometimes English. In 1373, the English set fire to the city before giving up it with Duguesclin which had besieged it for three months.

Set up in place Protesting E in the middle of the 16th century, Penne was the theater of confrontations between Catholiques and Protestants. Bloodiest in 1562 took place. After 99 days of seat, the chief of the catholic army seized the place occupied by the Protestants. The defenders were cut the throat of and thrown in the wells of the castle.

It is with 16th and 17th century that the Peste prevails in the area of Warp end. In 1653, in order to obtain enraillement epidemic, the inhabitants of Warp end committed themselves to rebuild the church of Notre-Dame de Peyragude and going there in procession the August 15th of each year.

Penne, the Révolution allows an economic and social evolution all the favor of the people and middle-class. At the dawn of the 19th century, the commune of Warp end counts approximately 4.000 hearts…
