Waroux
According to the etymological Dictionary of Family names (Marie-Therese Morlet, Perrin 1991), Waroux is a name of anybody of origin Germanic: warwulf (war-, protection; - wulf, wolf).
The castle of Waroux is located on the commune of Ans (ex common of Al) in the province of Liege.
This field was a stronghold of the Comté of Looz.

- Raes de Warfusée I was killed in 1327
- Raes de Warfusée II was also acknowledged of Amay
- Raes de Warfusée III was burgomaster of Huy and died in 1407 without direct heir
The blazon of Waroux remained in the family of Warfusée throughout XVeme century.
In 1427, Agnès de Warfusée marries Richard de Merode (which was also burgomaster of Liege) and the blazon will pass to the family of Merode.
The Castle of Waroux disappeared. Another Castle of Waroux, whose foundations also goes back to the Middle Ages is still upright.
Opposite the current castle the ancestral farm of the field of Waroux is. It is a vast quadrilateral formed in the South by a wing of dwelling gone back from 1645 and three wings of bricks, limestone and micaceous chalk of 1724, including/understanding a vast barn and cattle sheds. The barn counts two entries charretières and, between this one, a great decorative reason for 4 meters height and 2 meters width. A niche shelters a statue of the archangel Saint-Michel embanking the dragon. It is capped with a pediment to the weapons of Clercx (eagle) with sheets of acanthus around the ecu. The farmyard is accessible by a massive door, in semicircular arch, surmounted of a porch-dovecote gone back to 1724 armorié with Clercx.
A windmill turned in Waroux. One said it old in 1323. It was destroyed during the Guerre of Awans and Waroux. It was probably rebuilt at the same place because a text of 1609 fact mention of a " nine moullin" and a locality " E melts of molègn" exist in the North-East of the farm of Waroux.
