Warning

A warning or warning shot is a shooting of the use of a Arme in order to intimidate an adversary without him to carry physical damage. It can precede the opening by real hostilities if this one does not proceed to a Capitulation or with any other action indicating its will to enter in talks.

By analogy, a warning is an action or a declaration, particularly a show of force, serving as last warning before the release of hostile measurements.

History

At the 18th century, one drew a warning for submission to a ship to ask him to raise his colors (to decline its nationality); the challenged ship had, according to the Lois of the sea, to hoist its house and “to ensure it” of a blow of gun.

Uses

The warnings are used in the aviation of war, where the balls traçantes of the gun S, very luminous, could draw the attention of a crew whose radio does not function and who would not have noticed the presence of hunters (the Soukhoï Soviet would have thus drawn from the warnings to the address of the flight of Corean Airlines before cutting down it with the missile).
