Warner Music Group (in the past WEA Records ) is a group of edition of discs which belongs to a Consortium directed by Edgar Bronfman Jr.

The origin of the group goes back to October 1972, date on which an easing of the American laws anti-monopoly allows the group Warner Communications Inc. to gather its three recording company under the name of WEA Records. Name WEA is consisted initial each company of the group:

  • Warner Bros. Records, company which was created by Jack Warner in 1958.

  • Elektra Records which was repurchased in 1967 by Warner Communications Inc (who was called then Warner-Seven Arts).
  • Atlantic Records which was repurchased in 1970 by Warner Communications Inc.

In 1989, WEA is found in the bosom of the conglomerate Time Warner which was consisted the fusion of the groups Time and Warner Communications Inc.

In November 2003, Time Warner is disengaged of the Warner Music Group (new name of WEA) which is repurchased 2,6 billion dollars by a consortium directed by Edgar Bronfman Jr.
