Warnant
Warnant (in Walloon Warnin ) is the name of two sections of common Belgian located in Walloon region, one in the Province of Liege (also known under the name of Warnant-Dreye, in the current commune of Villers-le-Bouillet), and the other in the Province of Namur (common of Anhée).
Patronym
The " family; of Warnant" , resulting from Otton de Warnant, which was at the end of the 13th century lord of Warnant and Moha, became one of the noble families most important of the provinces of Liege and Namur. The village of Warnant in question is that of Warnant-Dreye, in the Province of Liege.
A branch junior taken the name D' Oultremont at the 15th century, from which go down the current counts d' Oultremont. The branch elder, known as " of Warnant of Neuville" (knights or barons, according to the times) is extinct today.
Several hundreds of people in Wallonia still bear family name " Warnant" , or the corrupted version " Warnon" , although they do not belong any more to the nobility.
Among them, let us note the family of arms manufacturer the inhabitant of Li2ege of which most famous is Jean Warnant, inventor of the turntable rebounding and 35 other patents. Jean Warnant, born in Cheratte (Belgium) on February 28th, 1845, deceased in Liege on January 1st, 1913, wire of Warnant Léonard Joseph and Marshal Marie Ida. He married Godin Marie.
The singer Marie Warnant is also downward of Otton de Warnant.
