Warehouse G

The Entrepôt G builds in 1903 is located on the Dessauer Ufer in the district of Hamburg Kleiner Grasbrook , in the free port on the port fuvial " Saalehafen ". The warehouse has three levels and eight compartments.

This building was an appendix of the camp of concentratioin of Auschwitz. From July to September 1944 nearly 1.500 Jewish women were held there who were to carry out work of cleaning in refineries and other companies. In October 1944, 1.500 male prisoners arrived. After an air raid, this group was moved in the district of Hamburg-Fuhlsbüttel until February 1945. At the beginning of April 1945 the camp was closed and the prisoners transferred to Bergen-Belsen. A memorial points out the history of the building.
