Waraqa
Waraqa ibn Nawfal , Waraqa ibn Nawfal ibn Asad ibn Abd Al-Uzza ibn Qasi Al-Qorshy (Arab: rear RTL ورقهبننوفلبنأسدبنعبدالعزّىبنقصيالقرشي) is the cousin of Khadija, first wife of Muhammad. Waraqa was according to certain sources (History of Baited) a priest converted with Christianity nestorien, the priest or preacher of Mecque, and died as a Christian nestorien. However, of recent research tend to make think that it was ébionite or judéo-nazaréen. In support of this assumption, it is famous to have written the Hebrew Bible in and to have governed the marriage of Muhammad as a " priest nasraniy".
Waraqa in Sira
According to the Sira, biographies Musulman be traditional of Muhammad, which speaks about it extremely eulogistically, Waraqa was a pious monk who recognized the signs of prophecy shortly after that Muhammad had received its revelation. For certain Moslems, it is about the specific achievement of a prophecy of Isaïe (29: 11-18). (Even Sourate Al-Alaq for a more detailed report).
Certains critical historians of Islam put forth the assumption that as a sabomenoi , Waraqa could have helped Muhammad to develop the religion which he would preach; these historians quote other scholars, Jews and Christians, in the entourage of Muhammad, like Bahira, described in Sira. This point of view does not make the unanimité.
During the first experiment of revelation, Muhammad believed, by seeing the angel, being attacked by Djinn S. It was comforted by Khadija, which led it to Waraqa, which says then to Muhammad which the angel which it had seen, Jibril, was that which God had sent to Moïse (Foamed). Waraqa also says to him that its people would drive out it of Mecque, and that it would give his support for Muhammad. Waraqa died a few days after this interview.
