History

It is with the XIIe century that Wannehain is mentioned for the first time. June 22nd 1190, the Pape Clément III confirms, in a bubble addressed to the senior Arnulphe, the possession of the grounds and wood of Wannehain (Wennehem) in the list of the goods and the properties of the Chapter of Turned. The Seigneurie of Wannehain concerns well the Treasurer of the Chapter of the Cathédrale of Tournai, as he is written in a document signed with Brussels on April 21st 1770, in the Files of the Marquisat of Roubaix:

The Count Maximilien Charles Joseph de Lalaing gives procuration to Bernard Serrurier, Greffier and receiver of Wannehain for… " to go to raise and droiturier pardevant the feudal court of the Treasury of the Cathedral of Tournay strongholds and seigniory of known as Wannehain with its appendances and dependences… " and authorizes it with " to make on our behalf the necessary oaths and generally all other works of loy… ".
