Wanderer Verke AG
Company founded in 1899 by Winklhofer & Jaenicke, (1878/1964), factories with Schönau close Chemnitz in Saxony ; Head office: idem.
Specialized in the production of motor bikes and Voiturette S. Its model headlight was the “Puppchen (the headstock)”, produced 1912 with 1927. Enter in 1932 the Group-Car-Union to the sides of DKW, marks founded by Jörgen Skafte Rasmussen.
Jörgen Skafte Rasmussen is thus the man who federated the “Auto Union”. Mechanic, it was a large friend of August Horch and another engineer, some Ferdinand Porsche which, moreover, worked at his place. During fusion, in 1932, in addition to the industrial inheritance it is undoubtedly most beautiful “ cadeau ” that Wanderer made with the new group.
The three men who had same passions, a little the same character, impetuous, independent, frank, not very gifted for the intrigue, included themselves/understood and estimated themselves mutually. However like said it later, Otto Hahn: “ If Horch and Rasmussen were truths geniuses of mechanics, Porsche was the dieu ”.
