Wamba is a king Visigoth of Hispanie which reigns of the year 672 at the year 680/681. Á the death of the king Recceswinth, it is elected king the September 21st 672 by part of the wisigothic nobility joined together in the area of Valladolid (with the “ Gertico (S) Valladolid ”), in spite of its already advanced age, whereas it does not wish to become king. Become king, to strengthen the royal authority on an increasingly rebellious nobility, he is the first king Visigoth to be made crown king by receiving oiling crowned by the archbishop of Tolède; he is thus the first barbarian king of origin “” in Occident to be made crown this kind (nearly one century later, Pépin the Brief will make in the same way to legitimate its capacity).

He fights against the rebellious nobility, as well arienne as catholic, and must repress the revolts Vasconnes; as of its advent, it must intervene in Septimanie to fight the Duc Paul, which proclaimed king, supported by local partisans and the mérovingien Childéric II, king of the Francs. 'A village of the north of Spain bears the name of this king, “Wamba”, located at about fifteen kilometers in the west of Valladolid (located at the site of an old high-place wisigothic and place of the election of Wamba?).

A tower of ford, located at the top of Tage, in the site known as As Carried of Rodao, to Vila Velha de Rodao (Portugal), bears the name of torre C Rei Wamba (turn of King Wamba).
