Walther von der Vogelweide (*~1170 - ~1230) is the lyric Poète German most famous of the Moyen-âge.

In spite of his fame, one does not find the name of Walther in the registers of his time, except a solitary mention in the accounts of displacement of the bishop Wolfger de Passau -- " longos" of solidos of the pellicio V of Vogelweide of cantori of Walthero pro -- " in Walther the singer of Vogelweide five shillings to buy a coat of fourrure". The independent sources of information on Walther von der Vogelweide are its own poetries and of the occasional references by contemporary Minnesingers.

Poetries of Walther give the image not only one great artistic genius, but also of a hard and impassioned, very human and very pleasant nature.
