Walters Art Museum
The Walters Art Museum located at Baltimore, is a private collection of art opened with the public. The collection of the museum was mainly gathered by two men, William Thompson Walters (1819-1894), which undertook its collection when he emigrated with Paris with the release of the American Civil War and Henry Walters (1848-1931), which refined the collection and moved it in a palazzo . The Walters Gallery was, for the first time open to the public, Wednesdays from April at May 1875. Works presented include/understand parts of Egyptian antiquity, sculptures Greek and Roman sarcophagi, enluminés ivories medieval, manuscripts, bronzes of the Rebirth; paintings of the large Masters of the 19th century, ceramics and bronzes Chinese as well as jewels Art déco. Since October 2006, the entry of the museum is free for all.
