Walter Wilson Cobbett

Walter Wilson cobbett , born in 1847 with Blackheath (England), died in 1937 with London, was an English business man, Violoncelliste amateur impassioned of music.

He is the writer of the Cobbett' S Cyclopedic Survey off Chamber Music ; an encyclopedia in two-volume on the Chamber music, published in 1929, still considered the most complete work on the subject today, enamelled perspicacious remarks and sometimes caustics.

It ordered many works of chamber music, thus encouraging British type-setters of its time, such as Benjamin Britten, Frank Bridge, Ralph Vaughan Williams, Arnold Bax, Eugene Goossens.

It founded Cobbett Society, association aiming to promote and redécouvrir forgotten works of chamber music.
