Walter Tevis
Walter Stone Tevis (San Francisco February 28th 1928 - August 8th 1984) is a American writer of Science-fiction and Roman black.
Biographical note
His/her father, born with Madison County, brought back his family to the Kentucky from San Francisco whereas Tevis was 10 years old.
After having taken part in the campaigns of peaceful during the Second world war, Tevis passed a diploma to Model High School in 1945 and entered to the University of Kentucky. Whereas it was student, Tevis worked in a “Eight ball|pool-room” and published a history on billiards written for the course of writing of A.B. Guthrie. After having received its control, Tevis wrote for the Kentucky Highway Department and taught with Science Hill , Hawesville, Irvine, Carlisle, like at the University of Kentucky.
He was professor of literature at the University of Ohio of 1965 to 1978, where he accepted a MFA. He wrote seven novels, including three on an alternative of the same topic. Tevis disappears from the literary circuit during a few years, suffering of alcoholism and living private lessons of writing. It was nominated at the Nebula price for the Best Novel in 1980 for the bird of America . It spent its last year to New York, as a writer with full-time. Walter Tevis died of a Lung cancer in 1984. He is buried with Richmond, in the Kentucky.
