Walter Susskind (Jan Walter Süsskind) is a Leader Czech (naturalized British in 1946), born on May 1st 1913 with Prague and died the March 25th 1980 with Berkeley (California, the United States)
Biography
At the time of its years of training in Prague where he learns the piano, he in particular studies the composition with Josef Suk, and the direction of orchestra with George Szell.Susskind makes its beginnings of chief with the German-speaking Opera of Prague in 1934 whole while leading a career of pianist in trio of 1933 to 1938. With the German invasion of 1938, it joined London. It is devoted to the direction as from 1943, in London then in Scotland, while passing by Melbourne (Australia) of 1953 to 1955.
It finishes its career on the American continent, with Toronto, Saint Louis or Cincinnati while being regularly invited to direct the European orchestras.
