Its history

Walt was born the August 24th 1994 with New York, with the the United States, wire of Michael Dawson, artist in the heart and worker of the building by need, and Susan Lloyd, coed in right. Its first name was given to him according to the first name of the father of Michael, Walter. During the birth of Walt, Michael and Susan lived together but Susan refused to marry Michael. Whereas Walt was old of a few months, his/her Susan mother took it along to live in Amsterdam, where a work enticing in international law waited, far from Michael. Two weeks before the second birthday of Walt, Susan goes to New York to return visit to Michael, who recovers from an car accident. She announces to him that she and Brian Porter, her owner, intend to marry and that they will move in Rome at the end of the month. She asks Michael to give up her parental rights with regard to Walt so that Brian can adopt it. Michael refuses and asks to recover her son. It follows from there a legal battle between the two parents of Walt. Finally, they settle their disagreement by amicable agreement and Michael agrees to leave Walt to Susan. When shortly after Michael sees Walt to bid her farewell to him, it makes him gift of a polar bear in cuddly toy.

During following years, the family made of Brian, Susan and Walt settled in Australia. Whereas Walt was ten years old, his/her mother, Susan, died of a “disease of blood”. Brian then went precipitately, as of the shortly after died of Susan, to find Michael in New York, in order to convince it to become the legal guardian of Walt and to take it with him. Brian gives even to Michael plane tickets to go to Australia and to return with Walt to New York, more money for the expenditure of voyage. Although Brian is the only father that Walt really knew, their relation forever be very good. This one forever succeeded in tying bonds with his/her adoptive son, whom it found strange. Brian acknowledges in Michael that it forever really desired to become the adoptive father of Walt and that Walt the met badly at ease: “Sometimes, when Walt is present, of the things occur. It is different. ” Thus, Michael went to seek Walt in Australia to bring back it to New York and Walt was seen obliged to move again, this time with a man whom he did not know. Its only comfort was that it could take along with him Vincent, the dog of Brian. In order to go back to the United States, Michael and Walt took the flight Océanic 815, intended to be crushed on the island.

Capacities of Walt

The leading cause of the tension between Bryan and its adoptive son was the mysterious capacities of this one. During the first season, we attended several demonstrations of its faculties.
  • During a flashback, Walt studied the birds of Australia in a book and wanted to share its interests with his/her mother and her adoptive father. Those were unaware of it because they were worried by a suddenly Malayan physique felt by Susan (perhaps signs of its disease which started to appear). At the time when Walt insisted to draw their attention, a bird rebounded against a pane of the house and found itself died.

  • On the island, the dog of Walt was lost in the jungle. Michael had promised to go to seek it at once that the rain would stop. Walt threw a glance with the sky and the rain stopped.
  • Walt read a Spanish cartoon where one saw a polar bear. Curiously, the survivors of flight 815 saw two of these bears in the jungle. One of them attacked Walt besides.
  • For several weeks, Locke had tried to open a trap door whose only him, Boone, Jack and Sayid knew the existence at this time. After having touched with the hand of Locke, Walt moved away from him by saying “This thing, do not open it. ”
  • After Walt was removed by the “Others”, Shannon saw it several times in the jungle. He spoke in an apparently incomprehensible language, but which was simply pronounced with back. He will say thus in his first appearance in the jungle " Don' T close the short prop… button' S… bad" (" Do not press on the button… the button… is mauvais"). Then, during its appearance in the tent of Sayid, he will say: " Closed They' Re coming… and they' Re… " (" They arrive… and they are close… ")

Its life on the island

With Locke, Walt was the only one to appreciate its situation on the island. It is partly why they quickly became close. In spite of the disapproval of Michael, Walt spent much time with Locke, which inter alia learned how to him to handle the knife. Little accustomed to the life relative, it sometimes happened several times at Michael to neglect her son, inter alia playing golf. Far from complaining some, the boy benefitted from it to go to join his friend, which enrageait his/her father. After a vigorous discussion on this subject between them, Walt fled in the jungle with its dog. It was then made attack by a polar bear. Helped by Locke, Michael managed to save it. This incident of course brought them closer.

In order to bring back her son to the house, Michael undertook the construction of a raft. At the beginning, Walt was not agreement. It was tired to move and was happy to be found on the island. Whereas the raft was almost supplemented, Walt put fire at it. Locke guessed it quickly but managed all the same to convince the survivors that it was the work of mysterious “the others”. When it realized at which point his/her father was unhappy destruction of his raft, Walt changed its position and decided to help it.

Its removal

Helped by Jin and Sawyer, Michael managed to finish the raft in time to avoid the season of monsoons, which would have made the voyage impossible. Michael, Walt, Jin and Sawyer thus left the island. After a few hours only, the raft crossed a boat, ordered by Tom, one of the “others”. Those détruirent the raft and took along Walt with them. A few weeks later, when Jack, Locke and Sawyer met Tom for the first time, this one says to them simply that “Walt is special. ” At the time of a short meeting between Michael and Walt, whereas they were both prisoners of the “others”, Walt called to his/her father that they made him pass from the tests and that the Others are not what they claim to be. In addition to these sentences, which arrived at Walt during its captivity is a mystery.

The departure

During her captivity, Michael made a pact with the “others”. It was to turn over to the camp of the survivors in order to release Benjamin Linus, who had been made prisoner by the survivors of flight 815. Then, it was to deliver Jack, Kate, Sawyer and Hurley with the Others. In exchange, those would release it, like Walt. Michael accepted, but required that they also give him the boat which they had used to remove Walt. All was held as envisaged, and at the end of the final episode of the second season, Michael and Walt found and left the island, without Vincent. “Henry Gale”, who seems at this time to be the leader of the Others, gave them indications which were to enable them to find help. Walt appears in Locke at the end of season 3 to prevent it of a danger.
