Walt Disney Pictures is a subsidiary company of the Walt Disney Company, founded by Walt Disney and which is at the origin of the company: it is its basic trade. The studios are located in the Walt Disney Studios at Burbank in California.

History

The history of the studios, under their various names, is closely related to that of the Walt Disney Company:
- of 1923 to 1929: Disney Brothers Studios
- of 1929 to 1984: Walt Disney Productions (the studios are one of the essential components of the company)
- of 1984 to our days: Walt Disney Company (the studios belong to the one of the four sections of the company)
Founded in 1923, the company is baptized Disney Brothers Studios , then Walt Disney Productions until the reorganization of the group in the Années 1980.
April 1st 1983, Walt Disney Productions creates starting from the department " animation and films" ( Pictures ) a company with whole but subsidiary share at 100%, Walt Disney Pictures . The studio which produced before all films of Disney centres little by little starting from 1984, with the creation of Touchstone Pictures , on the productions for youth then only the cartoons.
In November 1984, a division-subsidiary company is created especially for the televised series: Walt Disney Television Animation . Moreover, Walt Disney Productions takes the name of Walt Disney Company .
In 1986, Walt Disney Pictures “is cut down” by its principal division, that of cartoon films feature films, which became a subsidiary company under the name of Walt Disney Feature Animation .
Since 1991, Walt Disney Pictures organizes certain first of its films to the El Capitan Theater repurchased in renovated for this reason.
Since 1996, Walt Disney Pictures ensures the distribution international films of the Studio Ghibli through Buena Vista International.
The first DVD published by Disney left the December 2nd 1997.
In 2005 this division had decided to produce only cartoon films of synthesis but with the repurchase of Pixar Animation Studios, the studio returned to the traditional drawing.
The December 4th 2006, the company announced the return to the production of court-measurings with Dingo, in order to " to seek new talents" but announces, the following day, the dismissal of 160 organizers (either 20% of manpower).
In 2007, following the repurchase of Pixar and with a policy of harmonization of the subsidiary companies (resulting in the suppression of the term Buena Vista) Walt Disney Feature Animation becomes Walt Disney Animation Studios.

The Small One , realized by Gift Bluth and left the December 16th 1978. The " small personnage" title is a mule. The film reconte history of its life, its birth to its sale with Joseph de Nazareth and Marie on the way of Bethlehem.

Means-measurings of animation
The Disney studios carried out several medium-length films. The majority however were gathered to make films in batches such as the traditional ones of the years 1940-1950 ( Saludos Amigos , or Coquin of spring ).

Feature films of animation
Walt Disney and its studio launched out in the feature-length film of animation in 1934 and left their first film in 1937, Blanche Snow and the seven dwarves . Since this date, the exits of Disney feature-length films became almost regular, to see annual according to the periods.
