The Walloon Union of the Companies (UWE) is the organization of the owners of Wallonia
History
When already about 1965, one directs oneself towards forms of decentralization of the Belgium heralding the federalism, Walloon owners like Jules Delruelle (Prayon), George Halbart (Magotteaux), George Henry (Glaverbel), Pierre Holoffe (Asphaltco), Leon Jacques (Careers of Quenast) Jean Lannoye (Paper mills of Genval), Jules Plaquet (Company of Belgian Cements), Alfred Putzeys (Pieux Franki), create a new organization claquée on the transformation of the Belgian State.
They decide 1967, to invite a hundred owners. It results creation from it from the Walloon Union of the companies and not of the Union of the Walloon companies in order to make it possible the foreign companies to adhere to it. It is also not to exclude the nonindustrial companies. At that time the Fédération of the Companies of Belgium did not exist yet and there was a Fédération of Belgian industries and a Fédération of the nonindustrial companies .
The first meeting took place with the Institut of Glass to Charleroi on April 2nd, 1969.
