Walloon Flanders

The Walloon Flanders is part of old the Comté of Flanders.
It indicates about the same territory, the bailliage of Douai and the châtellenie of Lille, but at two different times. At the time of the Spanish Netherlands, it is the part of the Romance Flanders which signed the Traité of Arras the January 6th 1579. After the Treated of Nimègue, the Walloon Flanders is an intendance which forms with that the maritime Flanders the French province of Flanders.
It is a mainly political denomination even if it in a sporadic way were also compared to the terms Romance Flanders and Flanders gallicante which is purely linguistic.
