The Mur for Peace is a monument raised with Paris and inaugurated the March 30th 2000 on the Field-of-March. Nevertheless, it was to be initially placed in front of the seat of UNESCO.

It was carried out by the artist Clara Halter and the architect Jean-Michel Wilnotte. Its originators installed it on the fields of Mars, symbol of the war from where its name; Mars being the god of the war in the Roman Mythology. The Mur for Peace consists of a metal frame equipped with Bois, stainless and Verre. It measures nearly 16 m length, 13 m of width and 9 m height. On the large frontages of glass is written in 49 different languages, inter alia French, English, Arab, Braille, Greek, Hebrew, Polish, Tibetan, the word “Paix”. This work is inspired directly by the Wailing Wall of Jerusalem since the visitors can leave a message of peace in the slits envisaged for this purpose or send a message of peace to somebody in the world by Internet; the messages are then posted on screens located in the monument.
