Walid Eido
Walid Eido (born with Beirut in 1942, dead assassinated on June 13rd 2007 in an attack aiming its car at Beirut, 7th victim of a series of attacks since February 14th, 2005), was a Lebanese politician and a former magistrate.
Graduate of the Lebanese University in 1966, magistrate since 1967, it occupied several stations and finished his legal career in 2000, after having occupied the presidency of the penal Court of Appeal of Beirut.
Near to Rafiq Hariri and member of the Running of the Future, he is elected appointed sunnite of Beirut on the Hariri list which will beat that carried out by the ex-First minister Salim El-Hoss.
In 2005, after the Revolution of the Cedar, it is re-elected near its fellow candidates of the forces of the Alliance of March 14th to Beirut, with 60% of the voices.
Since 2000, it chaired the parliamentary commission of National defense, the Interior and the Municipalities.
The June 13rd 2007, it finds death, like his/her son and six other people, in an car bomb attack, into full Beirut, at its exit of its club of sport. The Lebanese government asked UNO to widen the mandate of the commission of international survey in order to include the assassination of Eido there. Bys-election are programmed for the August 5th in order to provide the vacant seats left by the assassination with Walid Eido and Pierre Amine Gemayel. It is Mohammad Amine Itani - also belonging to the Running of the Future - which succeeds to him, elected by more than 86% of the voices at the time of the by-election of the 2nd district of Beirut.
