Walibi Belgium
Walibi Belgium (at the origin Walibi Wavre ) is an amusement park inaugurated the July 20th 1975 by Eddy Meeus. The park is at the origin of the group Walibi, undertaken repurchased by HALF-VALUE LAYER Parks (owner of the Parc Astérix).
The name of Walibi comes from the cities which surround the park. Wa vre, Li badly and Bi erges.
The park includes/understands also a watery park: Aqualibi .
History
In 1998 Walibi was repurchased by Six Flags , one of the greatest groups of amusement parks. The park was renovated and accepted many new attractions, in particular the Vampire , Dalton Terror Tower , Loup Garou , Cobra and Challenge off Tutankhamoun . In 2001 the park changa its name in Six Flags Belgium . Profitability was however regarded as insufficient by Six Flags, and the park was resold in 2004 with Star Parks, a subsidiary company of the bottom Palamon , which re-elected the park Walibi Belgium in 2005.Since 2006, the park belongs to famous Grévin & Co little time after HALF-VALUE LAYER Parks, a subsidiary company of the Compagnie of the Alps.
Accident: - In 1997, the " Sirocco" (first name of Turbine ) was victim of a rather rare accident: the train remained wedged in top of the loop during nearly 2 a.m. In question an element of the propulsion which had broken. Several people had had to be hospitalized following the position “with back” during these 2 hours. The firemen had to resort to several hydraulic actuating cylinders to resolve attraction.
Harness was covered mainly (the station, the straight line and Vertical Loop) in 1998, the residents being felt sorry for of the ceaseless noise of attraction. From now on, it is only the Shuttle Loop covered in the world.
