Waldeck Gabriel the Oilcan is a French, old politician directing PCF, born the May 27th 1905 with Chauvigny (86) and deceased the February 4th 1986.

Biography

His/her father gives him the first name of Waldeck in reference to the former president of the council Pierre Waldeck-Rousseau which he admired. Orphan at the five years age, it continues his studies with Châtellerault, before joining in 1920 Saint-Denis, in Paris region. Waldeck the Oilcan works like apprentice draftsman while continuing studies by correspondence near the special École of public works. It adheres to Communist youths since 1921 when it meets Jacques Doriot and Henri Lozeray in particular. He moves with the Career-on-Seine in 1923. Registered with the Conservatory of arts and trades, Waldeck the Oilcan becomes engineer in 1927 and is sent at once to Mainz for its military service. Following its participation in propaganda, however prohibited, defense of the German workmen, it is condemned to two years of prison.

In 1930, Waldeck the Oilcan settles with Gennevilliers - a city which it will mark durably. Since 1931, it directs the communist section of the city and takes part in the victory of Jean Grandel in 1934. He becomes second assistant of the mayor, in load of work and the culture. With Grandel, it profits from the experienced councils of the communist mayor of Ivry-sur-Seine, Georges Marrane.

In 1935, Waldeck the Oilcan is named director of a new school of the Communist party whose Etienne Fajon, appointed Courbevoie and director of Humanity, and Georges Politzer are professors.

With the Release, he becomes mayor of Gennevilliers and takes part in the rebuilding of the city which suffered from the bombardments. Waldeck the Oilcan is also elected general secretary of the association of the mayors of the the Seine, then appointed in 1946.

In 1963, he is elected general secretary of the national federation of the municipal and cantonal republican elected officials.
