At the time of died of Gerbald, bishop of Liege, on October 18th, 810, Charlemagne indicated Walcaud as bishop of Liege.

At the time of the council of Aachen, Louis Débonnaire, wire and successor of Charlemagne, brings together the bishops, the abbots and the noble ones who approved a collection to regulate the duties of the life of the canons in the churches cathedrals and collegial.

The Walcaud bishop remarked this payment in the churches of Saint-Lambert (Liege), Notre-Dame (Tongres), Our-Lady-and Saint-Were useful (Maastricht).
