Notes on film
The film is rather black, the framework is gray, and the characters are cyclothymic. One does not know their history, one apprehends badly their reactions innatendues vis-a-vis the various situations with which they are confronted. The main characters, and over any Gabriel Lecouvreur, are complex, depressive and imperceptible. The bottom of the history is frankly dark, one has a little the impression of a descent among people of modest means. Nevertheless the film keeps a real anchoring, in spite of the unreal one of the place and the feeling of distance felt. For example, the candidate of extreme right-hand side to the local delegation, Marie Jeanne Desanges, leave this sentence allotted to Jean Marie Le Pen " What is necessary to make to prove to you that I am not racist? To marry a Negro? Forgiveness… a Black! A Black. And which has the AIDS it would be nevertheless better! "
