Wakhan-Daria
The Wakhan-Daria (also called Wakhandaria , Wakhan or Wak ) is the left river-source of the Piandj and thus of powerful the Amou-Daria in Central Asia. Its course is held in Afghanistan.
Geography
The river runs around: 3860 meters of altitude, to the junction enters the assembly line of the Hindou Kouch and the plate of the Pamir the Wakhan, district of the province of Badakhchan, in the extreme North-East of the Afghanistan. Wakhan-Daria is made of junction between two important torrents. In the same high valley is born the Murghab inhabitant of Tajik called Aksu here, but this last runs in opposite direction, towards the east. As of its formation, Wakhan-Daria takes on the contrary the direction of south-west then west. Arrived at the border with the Tadjikistan, close to the locality of Ljangar (altitude: 2799 m), around the Peak Karl Marx (: 6726 m), Wakhan-Daria are linked with the river Pamir to form the Piandj.
