A waiter HTTP or demon HTTP or httpd ( HTTP demon ) or (less precisely) Web server , is a Logiciel serving as the requests respecting the Communication protocol Client-serveur Hypertext Transfer Protocol (HTTP), which was developed for the World Wide Web.
Waiter HTTP more used is Apache HTTP Server which serves approximately 60% of the Web sites In 2007 according to Netcraft.
Historically, other important waiters HTTP were CERN httpd, developed by the inventors of the Web, given up the July 15th 1996 and NCSA httpd, developed with NCSA at the same time as NCSA Mosaic, given up mid- 1994, like WebObjects.
There exist also waiters HTTP which are waiters of applications able to make waiter HTTP, like Roxen or Caudium.
