Waid mark

Mark Waid (born the March 21st 1962) is a scenario writer of Comic S born with the the United States.

Biography

It entered the medium in the Eighties like leading person in charge ( editor ) and journalist of Amazing Heroes , the magazine for fans of comic books of Fantagraphics Books. Waid was quickly engaged like leading person in charge at cd. Comics or he worked on titles such as Secret Origins and Legion off Super-Heroes . He recognized that his work in the comics was strongly influenced by Adventure Comics #369-370 (1968), a history of the Legion by Jim Shooter and Mort Weisinger.

In 1991, Waid left leading work for work of independent scenario writer of. Its first work was for the transitory line Impact Comics of cd. or he wrote The Comet and Co-wrote Legend off the Shield .

However it was into 1992 that Waid began the task which was worth to him a broader recognition in the industry of the comics, when it was engaged to write Flash by Brian Augustyn. The series continued like a title-headlight of cd. and, in its 8 years engagement, Waid and the artists who illustrated his stories, more mainly Greg LaRocque and Mike Wieringo, and, in its last year, Augustyn as Co-scenario writer, left Flash the shade of its predecessors and increased its capacities.

The initial success of Waid on Flash was recognized by the competitors of cd. Comics, Marvel Comics, when the leading persons in charge Matt Idelson and Mark Gruenwald engaged it like Gruenwald successor as scenario writer of Captain America . The first participation of Waid on the title, with the draftsman Ron Garney, met good critics and postives reactions of the fans who became stronger when it had to stop prematurely after less than one year to make place with Heroes Reborn , which led to a révinvention of certain characters by artists of Image Comics. Captain America was then entrusted to Rob Liefeld.

Heroes Reborn was a critical disaster, Liefeld being returned at the end of six episodes, and a year later Waid and Garney began again in hand Captain America. Although the episodes were not same success that before, the prestige of Waid was increased by the business and it became one of the most prolific scenario writers of end of the year 90.

In 1996, Waid, with the artist Alex Ross, published his most known work, Kingdom Like . This history, which proceeds in the future of universe cd., described the destiny of Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman and other heroes whereas the world around them changes. Kingdom As was written in reaction to the dark comics and violent ones ( grim and gritty ) of the Eighties and Nineties. Many ideas of Kingdom As was introduced into current universe cd., and Waid wrote a continuation The Kingdom , which had less success.

Waid also worked on titles cd. JLA , Impulse (a series derived from Flash ) and on Ruse , Negation , Sigil , and Crux for the editor CrossGen.

In 2003, Waid started again with Barry Kitson a baptized series Empire , whose protagonist was super-unpleasant name of Golgoth which had overcome all the supermen and conquered the world. The series was initially published by Gorilla Comics, a company formed by Waid, Kurt Busiek and some others, but the company ceased any activity after only two episodes are published. Empire was finally published by cd. Comics.

In 2002 Waid started with scénariser Fantastic Four for Marvel. Then in 2003, as what had occurred into 1995/1996 with Captain America , the work of Waid on Fantastic Four was threatened by the will of the leaders of Marvel to reinvent certain aspects of the series. When Waid refused to accept the changes him and the artist Mike Wieringo were replaced on the title. However the reaction of the fans was such as Marvel reconsidered its decision and reallocated Waid and Wieringo on the title. The rout Fantastic Four is one of the factors which led to the resignation of Bill Jemas of the direction of the company. Waid and Wieringo have since concludes their work on Fantastic Four.

In December 2004, Waid made team with Barry Kitson again and returned on the Legion off Super-Heroes for cd. It also launched the series Hunter Killer with Marc Silvestri at Top Cow. For Marvel, with the assistance of Tom Peyer, it contributes to the event House off M via the mini-series Spider-Man: House off M , illustrated by El Salvador Larroca.
