Waco (Texas)

Waco is the chief town of the Comté of McLennan, with the Texas, the United States. In 2000, its population counted: 113726 inhabitants and his surface was of 247,4 km. Waco is called “the heart of Texas”.

The city was founded in 1824 on an old Amerindian establishment. The city experiences a prosperous development at the 19th century, but it is struck by a violent one hurricane in 1953.

Waco is famous in the United States to have been the permanent residence of the sect of Davidiens guided by David Koresh, of which nearly 80 members perished in the fire of their farm at the time of a attack launched by the American army and FBI the April 19th 1993, after 51 days of seat.
