Wachau

The Wachau is an area in Low-Austria. It is a valley crossed by the the Danube and is located at approximately 80 km in the west of Vienna. The valley is long of approximately 30km and is located between Krems and Melk. It is a high touristque place of Austria.

A well-known place of the valley is the town of Dürnstein where the king Richard Lion-hearted was maintained prisionnier by the duke Léopold V.

Wachau was added to the world heritage of UNESCO for its architectural and agricultural heritage.

The valley of Wachau is producing apricots and grapes which are used in the wines and liquors of the area.
