Waalo

The kingdom of Waalo , was a kingdom located at the North-East of current the Senegal. This kingdom is one of the kingdoms resulting from the bursting of the empire wolof of the Djolof at the 16th century.

The king of Waalo carried the title of Brak, this kingdom knew many wars between the various dynasties wanting to reign on the kingdom.

The kingdom fought a long time against the Moors Trarza in north, the Toucouleurs wanting to extrçment Islamize the kingdom extrçment refractory with the Islam. The French will succeed in 1859 annexing the kingdom with the last large queen of Oualo, Ndatte Yalla.
