WRAPPED
Wrapped , of its name of registry office Jean Roba , is an author of Cartoons born the July 28th 1930 with Brussels and deceased in the same city the June 14th 2006.
Biography
Beginnings
Before devoting itself to the Cartoon, he exerts other forms of arts such as engraving, printing works then publicity towards the 16 years age, as a draftsman. Previously, it had also been formed with interior decoration and the design. Starting from 1957, he becomes the creator, scenario writer and draftsman of two series published in the Newspaper of Spirou then to the editions Dupuis, editors of this periodical:
- the Long string which tells the adventures of a band of kids with the titles the Long string inquires , the Long string engages of the world , the Long string counter-attacks , the Long string with the basin and the Long string in Galopingos .
Swell and Bill
- With end of the year 1959 is born Boule and Bill , a little boy and his dog, imagined by Jean Roba and some Maurice Rosy, which makes their appearance like " minis-récit" , supplement with the newspaper of Spirou in the shape of an mini-album to cut out and assemble oneself. The series counts 28 albums.
The series Ball and Bill represents happiness in an small family where poetry is harmonized with the daily humdrum routine. Because Ball and Bill remain before a a whole series full with freshness and tenderness where the blue Mésange S will have fun beside Bill the Cocker.
Jean Roba appreciated the cocker spaniels. He took as a starting point his own cocker spaniel to draw Bill, and by his own son for " croquer" Swell.
In the elementary schools, many are the school handbooks which publish within the framework of the state education and educational exercises of the gags of Boule and Bill .
Last years
Suffering from a polyarthritis with the hand, Jean Roba takes his retirement in 2003, leaving Boule and Bill to continue under the feather of Laurent Verron, which was its assistant of 1986 with 1989.He is largely requested for his talents of draftsman but also for the originality of his scenarios full with humor.
Ball and Bill are the subject of a first adaptation in cartoons for television in the Années 1960, then one second diffused on TF1 at the beginning of the Années 2000.
The series of cartoons Swell and Bill is translated in more than one score of languages in the world and is read by more than 25.000.000 readers.
Its funeral proceeded the June 21st in the Church Notre-Dame de Lourdes with Jette.
