WNYC is a station of radio American diffusing its programs in Medium waves (820 Khz) and out of FM (93,9 MHz) on New York. The station is subsidiary with National Public Radio operator.

This station began its emissions the June 2nd 1922. The frequency FM was added since 1943. It is a public radio ( Public radio operator English ) who was the property of the town of New York until in 1995. The station was repurchased on this date by private citizens in order to continue its public service missions. The town of New York did not have any more the will and financial means to maintain such a company.
