WDUQ

WDUQ is a public radio station of Pittsburgh, in Pennsylvania. It diffuses jazz and information. Member of National Public Radio operator, it is also affiliated in International Radio operator Public and American Public Media. It is the most listened public radio town of Pittsburgh.

History

WDUQ begins its emissions the December 15th 1949 as a laboratory of study of the Duquesne university, whose students are thus in contact with this technology. It then gives access to the inhabitants of the surroundings to programs of information and culture.

In 1976 the radio begins the diffusion of radio programs Information Service, a service of reading for not and the partially-sighted persons;

In 2006 WDUQ started with increased the power of its signal to be further listened than before. A relay diffuses the signal with Johnston (Pennsylvania) on 100.5 FM, in Somerset (Pennsylvania) on 104.1 FM, in New Baltimore (Pennsylvania) on 92.3 FM, and in Ligonier (Pennsylvania) on 104.1 FM.

Activity

Currently WDUQ is the seat of popular programmes of information of NPR like Morning Edition, All things Considered, Because Talk or others. The radio operator fact also of the efforts in order to cover the local topicality. It produces and distributes also programs to public radio stations of the the United States.

Like the majority of the American public stations, the majority of the financing of WDUQ comes from individual gifts.
