World War 3 was a Pay-per-view of Catch and also type of match produced by the World Championship Wrestling as a its answer to the Royal Rumble of the World Wrestling Federation. The event took seat in each month of November. Like the Royal Rumble, World War 3 match was organized with the event which bore its name. In 1999, it was replaced by Mayhem.

The rules for World War 3 match are similar to that of a Royal Rumble match. It y' has two major differences however:

  • the WW3 match is held in three boxing rings, each one containing 20 men.
  • All the sixty men began the match at the same time.

The rules for World War 3 match were:

  • All the sixty men saw themselves randomly allotting a specific boxing ring before the beginning of the match.
  • the match began with the sixty men, out of three boxing rings, when the bell sounded.
  • a participant owed projetter his adversire over the third cord, and its two feet were to touch the ground apart from the boxing ring to eliminate it from the match. This rule was changed into 1998 to allow eliminations of any manner, with the addition of fallen and tenders.
  • When there remained thirty men, they moved towards the central boxing ring and the match continued. This rule was also published in 1998, from now on this applied when there remained nothing any more but forty men.
  • last the men on the boxing ring was declared victorious.

In World War 3 inaugural in 1995, the winner was seen giving the vacant WCW World Heavyweight Championship (which was Randy Savage). The following years, the winner obtained a match of championship at the time of a given event. The winner in 1996 The Giant thus obtained a match for title WCW with Souled Out 1997. That of 1997 Scott Hall with Uncensored 1998, and finally the winner in 1998 Kevin Nash, obtained a match of championship to Starrcade the next month.
