History
In December 1988, Ted Turner repurchased the Jim Crockett Promotions, which it re-elected under the name " NWA World Championship Wrestling". Whereas the federation remained member of the National Wrestling Alliance (NWA), the use of name NWA was more and more tiny room on the televised programs, in favor of the name " World Championship Wrestling" , or " WCW".The January 11th 1991, Ric Flair beat Sting to gain NWA World Heavyweight Championship, and was recognized like the WCW World Heavyweight Champion. The new championship was not initially represented by its own belt, and the WCW continued to use belt NWA World Heavyweight Championship. Because of this, the WCW affiramit regularly the line of the NWA World Championship for its own championship.
July 1st 1991, an argument between Vice President Exécutif of the WCW Jim Herd and Flair ammenait this last to leave the WCW for the World Wrestling Federation of Vince McMahon. As Herd refused to give a deposit of 25.000$, Flair preserved the " Big Gold Belt" who represented the NWA World Heavyweight Championship. The WCW was forced to create its own belt (a belt belonging to Dusty Rhodos of now late the Championship Wrestling from Florida used as the NWA Florida Heavyweight Championship with a gold plate where was marked the words " WCW World Heavyweight Champion"), which was given to Lex Luger after its victory against Barry Windham in a match out of cage for the vacant title at the time of the Great American Bash 1991. Little time after Bash, an original version of the WCW World Heavyweight Championship was creates.
Later in 1991, the WCW continued Flair poru the use of Big Gold Belt on the screens of the WWF, but was charmed for finally paying the 38.000$ in Flair for its guarantee plus the interests. Sense of smell gave again Big Gold Belt with the WCW. Big Gold Belt was used for the NWA World Heavyweight Championship, a title divided between the WCW and the New Japan Pro Wrestling.
In September 1993, the WCW left the NWA about an argument on the fact that the other members of the NWA asked so that the champion be available for them, and also on the fact of the use in itself of the NWA World Heavyweight Championship whose results were largely known advances some with the recordings. At the end of 1993, Rick Rude appeared with the recordings with the Studios Disney like the NWA World Heavyweight Champion, in spite of the fact that in the Storyline, Flair remained champion. After having left the NWA, the WCW Big Gold Belt preserved, which was famous WCW International World Heavyweight Championship.
With Starrcade '93, Flair woremportait the WCW World Heavyweight Championship, by beating Vader. The WCW decided to unify the WCW World Heavyweight Championship (represented by the new belt) and International Championship (represented by the " Big Gold Belt ( Large Gold Belt) "), by having Sense of smell to face Sting in June 1994. Sense of smell carried it and WCW International Heavyweight girdles it replaced the old WCW World Heavyweight Championship whereas International Heavyweight Championship itself was abandoned. When Hulk Hogan arrived at the WCW and gained the WCW World Heavyweight Championship (now represented by the " Big Gold Belt") of Sense of smell, Hogan helped the WCW to become the number one federation with the the United States. However in 2001, WCW suffered from a succession of failures and ended up closing its doors.
