Władysław Strzemiński

Władysław Strzemiński , born on November 21st 1893 with Minsk, deceased on December 28th 1952 with Lodz, is painter and theorist of art Polish, one of the thinkers of the constructivism. Pioneer of the avant-garde constructivist of the years 1920-30, it theorized the Unisme.

In 1917, it finishes its studies at the School of engineers of military engineering. After the First World War, during which it is seriously wounded, it begins its studies at the School of the Art schools of Moscow. Then, he became the assistant of Kasimir Malevitch at the School of the Art schools of Witebsk. In 1922, it returns in Poland. In 1931, it settles with Lodz where it is activated in the Union of the Artists Polish Plastics technicians (ZPAP). In 1932, it receives the price of the town of Lodz. In 1945, he becomes lecturer at the 3Ecole Nationale Sup3erieure of the Visual arts of Lodz of which he is one of the founders. The same year, it bequeaths its collection to Muzeum Sztuki de Lodz. In 1950, Strzemiński is laid off 3Ecole Nationale Sup3erieure of the Visual arts of Lodz (PWSSP) on the order of the Ministry for the Culture. One reproaches him for not respecting the doctrines of the realism-Socialist.

He is married with Katarzyna Kobro. Strzemiński is very attached to the town of Lodz. In an apartment of the modernistic district Polesie Konstantynowskie , it publishes little before the war a newspaper which constitutes proclamation of the artistic group " A.R." It publishes also " Unizm W malarstwie" (Unism in painting) (1928) " Kompozycja przestrzeni". Obliczanie rytmu czasoprzestrzennego" (Composition of the extent. Evaluation of the rate/rhythm of the space time) (1930).

It is buried with the Old Cemetery of Lodz.

In 1987 its name is given to the 3Ecole Nationale Sup3erieure of the Visual arts of Lodz (PWSSP), and today ASP (Academy of the Art schools) with Lodz.

The largest collection of paintings of Strzemiński are in Muzeum Sztuki de Lodz.
