Władysław Gomułka (February 6th 1905 with Krosno in Galicie - August 31st 1982 with Warsaw) is a statesman Polish. It directed communist Poland of 1956 to 1970.
Workman at 14 years, it adheres to the Polish Socialist party which it leaves in 1927 for the Polish Communist party clandestine where it dealt with trade unionism. In prison of 1932 to 1934, then again in 1936, for attack with the state security, he escapes in September 1939, takes part in Polish resistance, then, in November 1943, he is general secretary of the clandestine Polish Working (POP) Party. In 1945, vice-president of the Council of Ministers, it defines " a Polish way towards the socialisme" , rejecting the collectivization of the grounds. In 1947, he is elected general secretary of the working Parti unified Polish (POUP) by the central committee. Drawn aside for " deviationism and nationalisme" , it is dislocated of all its functions, excluded from the POUP in 1948, and stopped in 1951. It is released in 1954, and is rehabilitated following the proclamation of the “peaceful coexistence” by Khroutchev.
In October 1956, he is elected first secretary of the central committee. He carries out thereafter a putsch carefully with the support of the army and the majority of the Polish party. The USSR mobilizes the Red Army then to go on Warsaw, but moves back after having received the insurance which the Gomulka government would be neither anticommunist nor anti-Soviet.
