Vychni Volotchek

Vychni Volotchek (in) is a Russian city of the Oblast de Tver. It is crossed by the highway and the way of railroad which connect Moscow to Saint-Pétersbourg.

The city is located at 119 km in the North-West of Tver, in the hills Valdaï, between the rivers Tvertsa and Tsna, on the Watershed of the basins slopes of the the Volga and the the Baltic. This geographical location is at the origin of the name of the city which can result in “Top Portage”. From 1703 to 1722, a channel is built at the instigation of the tsar Pierre I {{er}} to connect the two rivers. Vychni Volotchek became thereafter an important center of textile industry.
