VxWorks is a Operating system Multitâche real-time, generally used in the embarked systems.

This OS of the firm Wind To rivet, was employed by NASA for the space missions Mars Pathfinder, Stardust, like for both rover S Martians Spirit and Opportunity. The Martian probe Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter also uses it. It is also used in many communication systems of company (IP PBX Mitel ICP, Nortel).

This operating system is mainly used for research and industry. Several mother charts can beings managed using this system. Each mother chart has in her turn of the slots of extension in order to add interfaces of all kinds to it (temperature sensors, network, screen, charts of inputs/outputs)

The language used with this operating system is the C/C++.

The IDE for this operating system is called in the past Workbench (: Tornado). It is developed by the company Wind River and is based on Eclipse.
