Voultegon

Voultegon is a common French, located in the department of the Two-Sevres and the area Poitou-Charentes. The name Voultegon comes from the Celt " Vultaconnum". The inhabitants of Voultegon are called Voultegonnais and Voultegonnaises. Primarily rural, the commune has a score of farms as well as a robotized dairy exploitation. Some craftsmen are also installed: electrician-heating specialist, mechanic, hairdressing salon and a bar-restaurant. The common one also counts ten associations (theater, foot…)

Geography

The commune is located at 11 km of Bressuire, 6 km of Nueil Sapwoods and 8 km of Nickle silver the valleys.

History

The situation of Voultegon, to the Roman railway crossing from Poitiers to Nantes with that of Saintes Angers, explains its evangelization as of the first centuries.

The first Christian church, built in Argentonnais country, seems to have been that of St Pierre de Voultegon (Romance of the 12th century, of origin 5th century)
