Vonnas

Vonnas is a common French, located in the department of the Ain and the area the Rhone-Alps.

History

Vonnas has very remote origins, one found eight polished stone axes there in the village and with the hamlets of Chassin, Lamboyat, Namary and Bézemême, the tiles to the Plains and a medal of silver Tibère in the Jacques.

Very old parish under the term of Saint Martin's day, Vonnas-of-Saint-Martin, Vonnas was, at the 10th century and the 11th century, the place chief of a ager (canton). At the 13th century, one did not count there less than six castles and strong houses. Today remain only those of Béost and Epeyssolles.

  • the Museum of the Attachments presents attachments and cars hyppomobiles years 1850 to 1950, of which: diligences, half-compartments, trucks, slow train, of the agricultural tools, the various tools and instruments. Scenes were reconstituted presenting work of the workshops of cartwright trade, forging mill and saddlery.

  • In the commune thrives the businesses of Georges Blanc in the restoration and hotel trade.

Events

All first Sundays of July, Vonnas organizes the great Festival of the Pancake and the Horse. With the program: equestrian spectacles, stroll in the barouches, stroll with ponies, vacuum-attics and vacuum-stables, tasting of crepes, demonstration of raising, procession, exposures artistic… admission free and animations for the children. With this occasion, the Museum of the Attachments is free open for the children and proposes a cheap rate for the adults. This year 2007, the festival accommodates Loulou Etien, celebrates horse-breaker of feature, like its thirteen mares for a large spectacle.
