Volta Scirocco
mobile Stopping downstream from the river Reno close to Ravenne, area of Emilie-Romagna, in the south of the Delta of Po in Italy.
Geography
The mobile stopping (or transversal) of Volta Scirocco is in the course lower of the Reno between the inhabited center of Sant' Alberto (RA) than the south of the Valli di Comacchio and the road of state 309 " Romea" , at a distance of approximately 9 km of the mouth.This mobile stopping makes possible the derivation of the river by gravity in an artificial channel towards Ravenne, for the benefit of a plurality of uses; either in the agricultural domain (Consortia of Western allowance of Romagna and Romagna power station), or in that industrial (Polymers Europe, Cereol; Eridania) and the Production of drinking water (New installation of purification and treatment of Ravenne). The section can be regarded as the end of the basin of Reno; there is not indeed, other derivations in the short section located downstream, which strongly does not feel proximity of the sea in terms either of salinity of water, or of tides. Located in correspondence of an old handle or Volta del Primaro always existing, in a 800 meters long and broad artificial basin of 100, in which the river was built-in once completed construction, the stopping is set up on the limit Southerner of the marshes of Comacchio on a zone of large beauty and ethnological importance some.
Description of the transversal
The river transversal of long Volta Scirocco of approximately 120 m, realized by the Consortium for the Channel Emilien Romagnol (C.E.R) dice 1955, is primarily made up of five large piles in cell, surmounted each one by two side amounts 3 m thickness, determining 5 gantries of a width of 18 meters each one, in which the mechanisms of regulation are placed, guidance and the pantographs.Top of the piles, with the dimension of 6,80 m, the gantries are detached towards the top until the height from 14,65 Mr.
A complex of 1.400 posts (1 post each 2 m2) inserted with the 24 meters depth under the sea level, forms the platform whose suction face is with - 3 m under the sea level.

large a Valve with sector , which in position of total closure determines a Battant of 4.50 m on the bottom (of the dimension of suction face of the platform to -3.00 m s.l.m., until with dimension + 1.50 m s.l.m.), while in position of complete rising, it leaves the completely free flow until the dimension 5.50 m s.l.m.

a valve with shutter , assembled on the generator higher of the valve than sector, able to increase rise of water of 1.50 meters.
The water run-off can occur by the lower part (with Battant) when the lower valve with sector is raised, or by the top in Déversoir, when the valve higher than shutter is lowered.
Estimate of the flow
The stopping is able to allow a flow under the valves sector (flow with leaf), with a dimension hydrometric of 3 m, a flow of 500 m3/s, corresponding to 100 m3/s for each light. At the time of great risings the valves can be entirely raised to establish the free flow.
