Volos

Volos (in Greek Βόλος / Vólos ) is a Greek city, prefecture of the Nome Magnesia, in the area of Thessalie. It is located at the foot of the Mont Pélion, at the bottom of the Golfe Pagassitique.

It is an important port, in particular for the service road of the Sporades.

It is the birthplace of the painter Giorgio de Chirico.

The city accommodated the Olympic tournament of Football in 2004.

Corresponding to the site of the antique Iolcos, the city would have been founded by Créthée and is related to the Greek Légende of Jason and the Argonautes, of which it would be the wearing of departure.

The city is twinned with the French city of the Mans.
